Welcome To Your Phoenix Root Canal Dentist!

Comprehensive Dental Services

If you are experiencing tooth pain, the root of your tooth may be infected with bacteria.

To alleviate your pain and save your tooth, we may recommend that you have a root canal. Many patients are fearful of the root canal procedure, but it is a commonly performed procedure in our office that will help you feel a lot better.

Here’s some more info root canals, and why you might need this procedure:

Do I Need a Root Canal?

If you or your dentist notice these signs and symptoms, you may need a root canal.

  • Pain that gets worse while eating
  • Tooth trauma
  • Gum pimples
  • Sensitivity to heat or cold
  • Sore gums
  • Gums that appear dark or bruised

The Root Canal Procedure Explained

The root canal is performed by making a small hole in your tooth. Using a root canal file, we carefully remove the pulp and roots from the canal to eliminate the bacterial infection.

The canals will be flushed with a microbial wash before the tooth is filled and sealed with dental cement to prevent reinfection.

Is Getting a Root Canal Painful?

Root canals have a bad reputation for being extremely painful. However, root canals help relieve the pain caused by a bacterial infection inside the tooth.

You won’t feel anything while we are performing the root canal, as you will be given an anesthetic.

While you may have slight soreness after the root canal, most patients find that they are in much less pain after the procedure than they were while they had the infected tooth.

What To Do After a Root Canal

While a root canal won’t cause much pain, you should take some time to rest and avoid eating hard foods for a few days.

You should avoid smoking, apply ice to the area to reduce swelling, and wait until the numbness wears off before eating.

We’ll be glad to help you determine the best course of action for your teeth. Contact us today for more info.
